Visiting the Swedish capital in winter and looking to combine sightseeing with winter sports? Although Stockholm is far from the mountainous areas best suited to alpine skiing (which we discussed in a previous article), it is still possible to enjoy your favorite winter sport on a day trip from the city. Of course, the opening of these ski resorts depends on weather conditions, which vary from year to year, even with artificial snowmaking: usually between December and early April.

Here are the closest ski slopes and lifts. Note that the vast majority of these small ski resorts no longer accept cash payments.

1 – Hammarbybacken

Located on the edge of Stockholm, between the eco-district of Hammarby Sjöstad and the municipality of Nacka, this artificial hill rising to 93 meters offers the privilege of skiing without really leaving the city.
