Museum of photography

The photography museum, known as Fotografiska, is housed in a former Art Nouveau industrial building constructed between 1906 and 1910 by the renowned Swedish architect Ferdinand Boberg. This building previously housed the Stockholm customs office. The brick facade remains intact and original, while the interior was renovated for the museum’s opening in May 2010.

The museum covers an area of 5,500 square meters entirely dedicated to exhibitions and photographs, making it one of the largest photography museums in the world. The exhibitions (usually between 2 and 4) feature various photographic works, different approaches by photographers, and various types of photographers (from stars to lesser-known or emerging artists), reflecting the museum's commitment to diversity.

During our visit, which lasts approximately an hour and a half, we select 1 to 3 exhibitions based on the photographers (favoring those with a direct connection to Scandinavia when possible). You can enjoy a French introduction to the world of the featured photographers. After the introduction, you can spend more time in the museum exploring the exhibitions, have a coffee at the café, dine at the restaurant, and enjoy the magnificent panorama of the sea and Stockholm city.

Autumn-Winter 2024 The exhibitions on display are:

  • Space, a visual journey : 18 oct 2024 - 2 mars 2025
  • Emilia Bergmark-Jiménez, Födas och föda : 13 sept 2024 - 19 janvier 2025
  • Feng Li, White Nights in Wonderland : 24 august 2024 - 24 nov 2024
  • Valtyr Daregard, Point in time : 24 august 2024 - 4 nov 2024
