The City Hall is the majestic emblem of the Swedish capital and a true architectural masterpiece. Designed by architect Ragnar Östberg and inaugurated in 1923, its distinctive style and red brick facades reflect a bold architectural vision that proudly stands on the shores of Lake Mälaren.
Beyond the stylistic influences and architectural design, which we will explore in detail, the City Hall is renowned worldwide for hosting prestigious events, including the famous Nobel Prize Banquet held every year on December 10th (the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death).
Additionally, the City Hall serves as the political center of Stockholm, housing the Stockholm City Council and therefore the offices of the city's key political representatives.
Our guided tour will focus on these three aspects: the architecture, reflecting a rich artistic and historical heritage; the Nobel legacy, a prestigious international distinction recognized around the world; and the City Council, where crucial decisions for the development and management of the Swedish capital are made.
During the tour, we will have the opportunity to see the Blue Hall, where the Nobel Banquet and major receptions are held, the City Council Chamber, the Golden Hall where the Nobel Ball takes place, as well as other rooms in the building.
